Grab a cup of tea or coffee (oh what the heck, get a danish too!) and sit a spell. You might want to grab your notebook and pen because you never know when you will be inspired to write down a quote, or jot down a poem of your own. Words are like that, they take you on a journey and the next thing you know you are breathing life into your own magical world of words.

Dark Night of the Soul

I am using art to help me process this breakup and the above piece was created with my non-dominant hand from an exercise from Toni Bart in Tamara Laporte's Life Book Creativity and Wellness Summit.

"Dark night of the soul"
Searching in the dark
trying to find
who I am
after all this time

voice stifled
choking in my throat
clawing my way up
clawing my way out

what will I find
deep in the dark
who I've been
who I'll be

the words are  crawling
bit by bit
finding their way up
finding their way out

light seeps through the cracks

  1. Your last line is so hopeful.
I hope you find the answers you are looking for. Love you.

  2. Yes - light seeps in through the cracks. I am also doing an art exploration of Through the Darkness - may we both find the light

  3. Thanks, Jenni. Love that you are doing an art exploration as well. Yes, we will find the gold in the shadows.

  4. I can relate to your words. I would have been impressed if that artwork were done with your dominant hand, let alone your non-dominant hand. It is very striking. Any "artwork" I do with my non-dominant hand ends up looking like it was created by a psychotic six-year-old axe murderer.

  5. I'll make sure I try that lesson before it's gone, I love what you created from it!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.
