OctPoWriMo Day 8

I'm going to attempt to write a poem on my phone since using the keyboard for my tablet takes too much brain power for my creativity to wake up.

When the world leaves you breathless.
One must ask, "Am I doing this right?"
No one gives you a handbook on doing life.
Do's and don'ts people have plenty to say.
Eventually though you have to figure it out.
Right?
For otherwise we are stumbling and fumbling in the dark.
Unnecessary steps taken that lead nowhere.
Life feels harder than it has to be.
Little cuts tearing open.
Yes or no, does it even matter?

Shadows swallowing you whole
Trolls coming out from the between places
Random acts of horror next to kindness
Allowing the chaos to grow
No wonder people are flailing about.
Got to wonder if the merry go round will stop.
Eventually it must, it must, it must...

This was difficult on my phone, too. Hopefully I'll be able to get another laptop soon. How are your words flowing on this OctPoWriMo journey?

OctPoWriMo Day 1

I didn't participate last year because I was having such a tough time. This year I feel like a completely different person, lighter, freer and more myself. I'm really looking forward to writing poetry with the other participants of OctPoWriMo

The prompt for day one is, Shine Your Light and the poetry type is, free write. I decided to free write and see what falls to the page.

I dance upon the carpet,

moving my hips,

shaking things up as I invite my muse to join me.

My heart is more open than it has ever been,

but

the shadows are welcome too as

without them I'd not be able to see the light.

My light leaks out of my

broken places,

reminding me of where I've been,

of what I've endured,

but that I don't have to stay there,

in the dark because to grow

I need the light.

I need the now.

Smiling into the sun,

I'm open to where the light leads me

on this journey of words

and I'm letting more light in.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you'll share your word love below.

Peace,

Morgan
