Welcome

Grab a cup of tea or coffee (oh what the heck, get a danish too!) and sit a spell. You might want to grab your notebook and pen because you never know when you will be inspired to write down a quote, or jot down a poem of your own. Words are like that, they take you on a journey and the next thing you know you are breathing life into your own magical world of words.

Writing Love Affair Continues - Row80 End of Round Two

This is the end of my second round of A Round of Words in 80 days and it has been the best thing for my love affair with writing.

When this round of eighty days began I hadn't gone up to the Lake House yet until a couple of weeks into it and I began writing up a storm. I wrote most of my first draft for Opening to Miracles, finished the first draft of my memoir, and at the beginning of this month I began a new novel for my shapeshifters that I am hoping to have finished by the end of June. It has been a busy writing time.

Unfortunately I haven't done much of anything else. My blogs have certainly suffered. I have kept up mostly with Twitter and Facebook, probably more than I should, and my house is a wreck.

I have been on an emotional roller coaster that hasn't stopped yet. Major changes within the family that still have me turned upside down and inside out. I am doing a lot of breathing and taking care of myself the best that I can. Writing has become my safe haven. When I am in the flow of writing the whole world goes away and I don't have to think about what is going on around me. I don't know if that is good or not but it certainly feels like a break to me.

The last week or so has been particularly stressful and I haven't been able to get back into that flow of writing. I did seem to break into it a little tonight though and that has me feeling better.

I am hoping to attend the next round of 80 days and hopefully actually finish one of my books (final edit). Then of course I will have to find a beta reader then an editor. That terrifies me a little. Okay maybe a lot. First things first though, I have to finish editing my creations. That will be my top priority.

I look forward to seeing all of you in the next round. I know I don't get to many of your blogs but I do my best to support your writing on Twitter and Facebook as I have felt supported by many of you in my writing.

May you have a wonderfully restful time off from Row80 and I will see you next month.

Please do support the other Rowers by visiting and leaving your word love in the comments.

  1. So great to hear how much writing your've done Morgan... wow. I must say, when I can I do get immersed and lose all time and awareness of my surroundings. My writing turns out much better in those times. I hope this means the edits will run smoothly for you next round. My edits turned out to be more of a re-write so they really have taken the zing out of it for me. I'm worn out with this TBH. But onwards... :) It MUST be ready to publish September at the latest...I too am terrified of handing it over to betas.. (I have nightmares of an overwhelmingly negative response) but I realise all writers get that to some extent. Especially novice writers like me.. I have to get past it. We all do.

I love your knitted vagina too.... what rot! Vagina is a beautiful word. Did you ever see the travelling production - the Vagina Monologues? Thee's a book too.... Both exceptional. Took my mum and she cried and laughed and blushed... Marvellous. So will they rename that now... The 'Flower' Monologues... LOL? Doesn't quite swing it for me :P

Best of luck with your break... see you next round if not before. And I sincerely wish you well in your familial circumstances too... Nothing breaks the heart like fractions in the family. X

    1. Wow, I guess you didn't hear what was going on in Michigan. A Representative, Lisa Brown, was banned from speaking because she said the word Vagina in reference to new legislation they were trying to pass. Eve Ensler who does the Vagina Monologues, and yes I have seen them a couple of times, stood with the women Democrat Representatives that read the monologues on the steps of the Michigan Capitol. About 5000 people showed up to participate wearing T-shirts and signs that said things like, Can't say Vagina, Don't legistrate Vagina. I spent two three days Tweeting and Facebooking everything Vagina, hence the wonderful knit vulva on my blog and my new Vagina banner on my FB profile page.

Thanks Shah for your supportive and encouraging words. I can't believe how much writing I have done myself. I know I will probably have to rewrite a bit of it but at least I have something to work with.

I am so excited for you and can't wait to see your book come out! I wish the world for you!

      Peace,
      Morgan

  2. Wow, Morgan!

You accomplished so much in this last round. I'm so curious about all your projects.

So glad you had that time at the lake house. I have another writer friend who is house-sitting in the boonies for the next two months and will writing like crazy the whole time.

I know what you mean about seeking refuge in writing. Writing has always been there for me!

I look forward to writing with you through the next round! :)

    1. I am amazed at how much I have written as well. I believe being at the Lake house for a month really helped break through some of the barriers as well as discovering my new system of 3x5 cards, writing topics/chapters on them then shuffling each time I am ready to write and picking one to write. I have a feeling the editing is going to be difficult but I am determined to polish them up for the next phase. They are certainly vomit drafts at this point.

I am about to have a lot more time to write the way I love to write. My daughter and grand babies are moving out next week. It is killing me but I am trying to look at the bright side of having more time to write.

Thanks for all of your support and encouragement, it means the world to me. I can't wait to share my finished or nearly finished books with you. I hope the editing process doesn't take awfully long. I can't believe I am about to begin editing on my projects! I am so glad I found the online world of writers and especially you.

      Peace,
      Morgan
