This is the end of my second round of A Round of Words in 80 days and it has been the best thing for my love affair with writing.
When this round of eighty days began I hadn't gone up to the Lake House yet until a couple of weeks into it and I began writing up a storm. I wrote most of my first draft for Opening to Miracles, finished the first draft of my memoir, and at the beginning of this month I began a new novel for my shapeshifters that I am hoping to have finished by the end of June. It has been a busy writing time.
Unfortunately I haven't done much of anything else. My blogs have certainly suffered. I have kept up mostly with Twitter and Facebook, probably more than I should, and my house is a wreck.
I have been on an emotional roller coaster that hasn't stopped yet. Major changes within the family that still have me turned upside down and inside out. I am doing a lot of breathing and taking care of myself the best that I can. Writing has become my safe haven. When I am in the flow of writing the whole world goes away and I don't have to think about what is going on around me. I don't know if that is good or not but it certainly feels like a break to me.
The last week or so has been particularly stressful and I haven't been able to get back into that flow of writing. I did seem to break into it a little tonight though and that has me feeling better.
I am hoping to attend the next round of 80 days and hopefully actually finish one of my books (final edit). Then of course I will have to find a beta reader then an editor. That terrifies me a little. Okay maybe a lot. First things first though, I have to finish editing my creations. That will be my top priority.
I look forward to seeing all of you in the next round. I know I don't get to many of your blogs but I do my best to support your writing on Twitter and Facebook as I have felt supported by many of you in my writing.
May you have a wonderfully restful time off from Row80 and I will see you next month.
Please do support the other Rowers by visiting and leaving your word love in the comments.

Welcome
Grab a cup of tea or coffee (oh what the heck, get a danish too!) and sit a spell. You might want to grab your notebook and pen because you never know when you will be inspired to write down a quote, or jot down a poem of your own. Words are like that, they take you on a journey and the next thing you know you are breathing life into your own magical world of words.

Unblocking the Inner Writer-Pushing Past the Fear
Whether it is an unblocking or pushing past the fear, there are many creative tools to move through it to be the writer you were meant to be. Your soul is waiting for your empowered, authentic, and creative self. Stop preventing your dreams from being your reality.
The sheer intensity that a creative person can prevent themselves from creating is astounding. I have found myself floating on the web from one site to another to prevent myself from writing, thinking myself blocked. I have also found myself completely wrapped up in trash television to avoid the blank page or the next project that I know I want to create.
I do not believe that it is a block. I believe it is the fear or not believing in yourself enough to know you have greatness in you. I believe it is more about pushing past the fear to your creative soul than it is to unblocking it.
Today I have set a goal for myself to write as much as I can just to see what I am capable of. I feel the fear and anxiety creeping in. I know that if I let it, I won't achieve my goal. Here are some of the things I have done to push past it.
Your soul yearns for you to do what you love. If you are not doing it then you are sleep walking through life. Wake up and do what you love now. It is in remembering your authentic creativity that is a key element in your journey to wholeness. What are you waiting for, permission? Love yourself enough to do what is important to feed your soul today.

- Create a list of twenty-six phrases, off the top of your head, to start paragraphs or pages with.
- Make a list (at least 30) of your favorite words and keep it to the right of your screen to look at as you write.
- Allow yourself to write nonsense; pages and pages of nonsense.
- Write down every reason why you think you can not write then burn it.
- Write what would happen if you wrote a best seller.
- Create a story about your childhood with an imaginary friend, whether you had one or not.
- Write a different ending to a story from your childhood that didn't turn out the way you wanted.
- Write a story about a moment in your childhood that felt empowering.
- Write a forgiveness piece forgiving everyone in your life that you feel hurt you and forgive yourself for any that you have hurt.
- Set goals, if I write for this amount of time or this amount of words then I can (fill in the blank).
- Use a different writing tool. If you always type, write with a pen. If you always use a pen use a pencil, use a crayon even. See how different you write with different tools. Do you tap into your inner child when you use the crayons?
- Dance to your favorite music then write for at least an hour, repeat.
Your soul yearns for you to do what you love. If you are not doing it then you are sleep walking through life. Wake up and do what you love now. It is in remembering your authentic creativity that is a key element in your journey to wholeness. What are you waiting for, permission? Beginning of Spring - Row80 Final Check In for Round 1
Flowers are blooming all over my yard between the Dogwood tree and the plethora of azalea bushes/ we have a bounty of color in our yard. I love spring, it is my favorite time of year. It is a time of new beginnings. Right now, on this day, is an excellent time to plant seeds; both literally and figuratively. It is the best time of year to plant the seeds of creation for your writing projects and everything else you would like to accomplish this year as well as a wonderful time to start new projects.
It is interesting that our final day for the first round of Row80 should be on a day for new beginnings (we are within the energies of Spring Equinox and the New Moon). I know I will be spending time becoming clear about my goals and probably collage them as it is one of my favorite ways for planting new ideas and setting intentions.
Wow... what a ride this round of Row80 has been for me. This was my first round and it was phenomenal! Being new to all of this, I may not have finished a first draft but I have deeply explored my writing and gained so much from all of my new Rower friends and fellow writers. I have explored writing for contests and challenges, I wrote 48 posts on all three of my blogs combined (mostly on this one) since January 27th when I started this blog for my Row80 check ins.
I stalled out a bit on writing my stories. I believe it is because I was having trouble with the structure of where they were going. I did write a total of 91,372 words for most everything I worked on and that is only what I kept track of. That is much more than I have ever written in this period of time before.
I picked up a couple of books to help me with my Memoir that I am working on and have decided that will probably be my main focus for words in print for now as I learn and grow my writing.
Since I began the 750words.com I only recently missed two days and lost this month's challenge. I am not hard on myself about it though. I have been doing so much I allowed myself to become too tired and the days blurred together, forgetting that I hadn't written in it that day.
It is interesting when I go back to the beginning of this journey and look at what my goals were and how they have changed. I know they will continue to change as I learn and grow.
One unexpected highlight that I was waiting until today to share with all of you - I have been invited to be the Community Watch Supervisor at Story Dam that I was thrilled to accept and I begin today. I am looking forward to being a part of their team and community. If you haven't checked them out I highly recommend it especially if you would like conscious, compassionate constructive critiquing.
I must say that you, my Rower friends and fellow writers, are simply wonderful. I know that you are a big part of the reason I have reached so hard and so fast with all of my writing efforts. My heart will always be grateful to all that gave me their support and encouragement.
Thank you Row80 for giving us a safe space to grow.
I look forward to seeing where this writing journey takes me next.
Peace,
Morgan

I Am Me
A bright and shiny new penny
A Buxom red head juicy and ripe
Who I really am is...
a street that runs along the ocean watching the waves and people coming and going
a director, writer, teacher, entertainer, reader, lover, child, mother, grandmother
Who I really am is...
tired, disjointed and out of step
pushing past it into the excitement and wonder of life.
pushing past it into the excitement and wonder of life.
Who I really am is...
a child of God
a piece of God
Who I really am is...
an adventurer on another planet
a musician full of lovely sounds coming from my voice and instruments
Who I really am is...
a lover of life
a GODDESS
Who I really am is...
a strong, lovely, wonderful, kind, warm, intelligent, incredible woman
Who I really am is...
Me

Beauty Denied - A Writing Challenge
My Poem: Beauty Denied
Flower raised
Light in her eyes
Smiling face
Opening to Love
Shot rang true
Slow to fall
Last breath expressed
Beauty denied
Blood trail out
Floating Flower
Eyes looking up
Gone the light

I combined two challenges; The Picture from Words in Sync and the word Trail from Trifecta inspired me.

Love Affair with Words - Row80 Check in
I fell in love with words when I was eight years old. I didn't know what a love affair it would be. How could I, I was eight. I just knew that the world of books and writing fascinated me. I remember sitting and contemplating the clouds and what they meant to a writer; how soft they looked, light and fluffy. I remember laying on a blanket looking up at those clouds with my notebook in one hand and pen in the other, wondering what it would be like to lay upon those clouds, and look down upon the earth.
I remember wondering what words really mean and how they looked in a sentence; how one sentence led to another and another until you had a whole paragraph or a poem. My poems were crude back then. I remember trying to do something new with Roses are Red at one point.
I never liked hearing about rules of writing. Natalie Goldberg's rules, which I talked about last Sunday, were the first writing rules that I have ever liked. Before those rules I always felt that the writing rules were only stifling, that they prevented the writer from letting loose. I know I allowed it to stop me from writing. Now writing seems, easy isn't the right word, much more natural. I can lay thoughts down on the paper without it feeling quite so uncomfortable. I always felt like I had to get it right before; that is what stopped me.
I always felt that if I didn't, or couldn't, get it right I shouldn't be writing. But that isn't what writing is about. Writing is about putting our thoughts down on paper. It is about putting our hearts out for others to see, not about getting it right. My heart says that writing is a form of love. As a writer I want to intimately share my world with others. I want to write words of fascinating pictures that will have them feeling into every word. That to me is the essence of writing, being able to take someone on a journey through your words and they see it, they get it.
It is also about digging in the dark, pulling out the roots and looking at them under a microscope, examining how they grew and if you could have done anything differently, would you have? All of those juicy dark places make for such wonderful fertilizer for your stories. They are what bring life to them. How could you ever want to change or throw away something that has given your words such life? I notice as I am writing this last part I can see how my words are starting to feel painful. My chest is tightening and the inner critic is beginning to squirm and starting to tell me that others don't want to hear this. I tell myself, I am beautiful and the words are fine. Keep writing. (Thank you Natalie)
I remember sitting at a table at school and writing a song, I remember lying on my bed and writing my poetry. I remember sitting at my piano and writing a song that I wrote for a dead man in a park who froze in front of the white house because he had no place to sleep. Those words pulled my heart out and opened it for everyone to see.
I remember writing about my daughter at six months and wondering what it would be like when she began to talk; wanting to hear her thoughts. I remember when she was two and wondering when she would stop. I remember thinking then writing, that my heart was breaking in two when I left my husband. I remember writing about my journey of discovery of my new world of two daughters and no father. I remember writing about forgiveness and love. I remember writing about writing and thinking I would never get it right.
I now write, just to write. I now write for me. I now write in hopes that someone will find a piece of truth within it for them, but if they don't, it is alright. Because I love to write, and will keep on writing no matter if it is for me or if it is for someone else; it is my heart after all, this art of writing.
Thank you for taking the time to read my words. If it touched you in anyway, please leave your own words below for I would love to read them.
Row80 Check in
I am feeling like everything is on track. I am tired, have a bit of a cold but all is well. I will give a full Check in on Sunday.
I am enjoying my journey with words.
Peace,
