Welcome

Grab a cup of tea or coffee (oh what the heck, get a danish too!) and sit a spell. You might want to grab your notebook and pen because you never know when you will be inspired to write down a quote, or jot down a poem of your own. Words are like that, they take you on a journey and the next thing you know you are breathing life into your own magical world of words.

Vices - Resound11 Prompt 02

Hmmmm.... In my world vices are shadow aspects manifesting themselves in physical form. I would have to say my vice is food.  I have noticed this year that I have been reaching for my comfort foods more and more and yes my weight has increased because of it.  Luckily I am tall and it isn't completely out of control, yet.

My favorite of course is dark chocolate, next would be pasta, ice cream, nuts, wasabi peas (oh soooo good), my cooking, soups, bread, juice, fruit, vegies, okay so I love food.

Other vices/shadow aspects would be a bit of an obsession with Facebook. Love when I post something that gets noticed, but then who doesn't.

I actually have a bit of an obsessive personality, I can be like a dog with a bone when I am working on a project.

I know that I have lots of shadow running through my life but not all of them are technically vices.

I guess that about sums it up.  I have never liked drugs (always thought I would be the one to have my heart just up and stop, plus I really like to be in control and I value my brain), never been much of a drinker (I had stomach issues as a child and when I saw my friends drinking and puking I thought heck no, no way), I love sex as much as the next person but it hasn't ever been something that I medicated myself with.  So yeah, that is it for me.

What have you had trouble with this year?

Blessings,
Morgan Dragonwillow

P.S. I have been doing a lot of writing and I did something different today that I want to share. I am going to call it musical writing. I threw in a huge mix of music in my media player, shuffled them and began to listen as I wrote.  I then thought how I wasn't getting much exercise because of all the writing. I decided when a fast song came on that was making me move a little to it, to stand up and dance, move and shake for the whole song. I then sat back down and continued writing. So instead of Musical Chairs, you have Musical Writing. :D Let me know if you try it and how it works for you.

  1. I love the idea of musical writing! I am a musician and writer and have never really thought about how the two aspects of myself intertwine. I'll let you know how it goes for me. :)

When you say that in your world vices are shadow aspects manifesting in physical form, is this a Jungian outlook or ... ? I am curious about your world. :)

I wrote of vices rather flippantly yesterday, but today I gave them more serious thought. If you get a moment, let me know what you think.

    See you tomorrow! :)

  2. Hi Tui, (would love to know how you pronounce your name)

I went to your site and the only thing I could find about Vices was your original post of red wine and dark chocolate. I would love for you to point me in the right direction so that I may read what you expanded on.

As you can see by the title of my blogsite "Shadow Rhythms" I am all about Shadow and shadow being anything and everything that we have suppressed whether good, bad or indifferent, to feel safe and fit in while growing up to ensure our survival.

Anything that we have suppressed shows up in our lives in various ways. From anxiety at doing something new to self sabotage to any number of circumstances.

I believe that vices are what we do to numb the feelings we have when shadow tries to point out something we aren't looking at.

I also believe that the more we actively work with shadow the more authentic our life will be. I use a combination of working with the shadow planets in the shadow aspects with Shamanic Astrology.

In a nutshell for example... Many people have a hard time during Mercury Retrograde (a shadow aspect) I believe that when we are off track the planets try to help us get back on track during these time periods by tripping us up. Hence all the mishaps during this time.

Now say that someone is aware of this, they can work with it consciously, look at the suttle clues that pop up first (you have a memory pop up of an old lover) so you take a look at that past relationship and see what needs to be cleared from it. In clearing it you don't have any mishaps. If you ignore it then you could have someone hit you from behind (Your past basically hitting you over the head).

That is probably way more than you wanted to know but I actually made it as short as I could. :D Hope that helps. I have many postings that explain it further or you can email me and we can discuss it in depth.

    Blessings,
    Morgan

  3. Hi Morgan,

Thanks so much for your thoughtful, lengthy response. Wish you could drop by the house and we could chat in person - it's all so intriguing to me!

I've been fascinated by shamanism for years and received a deerskin drum as a gift earlier this year. I don't know how to journey, but would love to learn.

Shamanic Astrology sounds fascinating! I would love to learn more about working with my shadow aspects, and to learn more about how you learned what you know.

Here's the post I think you were looking for on my blog about vices:

I hope posting a link in your comments section doesn't brand me as spam!

Anyway, I'm about to eat dinner, but will pop back to your blog when I've got a full belly and can dig into your posts a little deeper. :)

So glad to have met you! :)

p.s. My name rhymes with "Huey."

  4. Hi Tui, I am very glad to have met you as well Tui!

I am enjoying our dialoque through our comments on our blogs. I too wish I could pop on by and have a cup of tea while we discussed many fascinating topics. Alas... I live many states away in Georgia, maybe someday I will be driving through and be able to have that chat.

No posting a link didn't brand you as spam. I do check my spam daily just in case something falls through the cracks though.

I discovered Shamanic Astrology when I was taking the Priestess Process. You can go to http://www.goddessontheloose.com to find out more about the Priestess Process plus I have a video that gives a feel for the experience. You can go to http://www.shamanicastrology.com to find out more about Shamanic Astrology.

I haven't studied Shamanic Astrology except in regards to my own chart and I don't actually do Shamanic Astrology readings. One of my Superpowers that I forgot about to write on is to see patterns, one of those things that I thought everybody did until a Priestess sister pointed it out to me. So when I had my last Shamanic Astrology reading by Anyaa McAndrew, I started seeing more of the patterns of where the shadow planets and aspects were to the shadow periods in my life. Realizing that if I worked with these time periods it would be more helpful to me and possibly figure things out for myself and consciously work my issues.

While I was working this way for myself, a friend contacted me and I realized how benificial this info would be for her as well. I was explaining it to her in an email and that is when Shadow Rhythms was born at the beginning of this year.

If you are interested in having a Shadow Rhythms session (which is donation only) all I need is for you to email me your info on the contact form on this page or you can message me the info in Facebook. I need your date, time, and place of birth. I will work up a chart then we can discuss it at a later time over the phone. I know there is a time difference but not sure of how much.

We can also discuss more about Shamanic Journeying and just about anything else you would like to discuss. :D

Hope to chat with you soon.

    Peace,
    Morgan
P.S. It is nice to know how to pronouce your name, thank you. :D
