Welcome

Grab a cup of tea or coffee (oh what the heck, get a danish too!) and sit a spell. You might want to grab your notebook and pen because you never know when you will be inspired to write down a quote, or jot down a poem of your own. Words are like that, they take you on a journey and the next thing you know you are breathing life into your own magical world of words.

Motivation to Exercise - Get Moving Monday

As I was doing my morning pages I was thinking about this post, Get Moving Monday, and how I am not motivated to exercise. I really don’t like to even think about exercise; which led me to thinking about dancing, which led me to thinking about when I first started dancing. I thought about the ninth grade because that is when my dancing started to get noticed. It wasn’t like ballet or jazz it was more like boogying on the floor. I was all over the place.

I was suddenly once again eight years old and my mom was putting on music for us to clean house to. I loved that music. It was fun and fast and I would twirl and swing all around the living room. It was the only time cleaning house was fun. That is when my love for music and dance began.

There are certain beats that can get me moving more than others.  What type of music gets your blood pumping? You don’t need motivation for exercise; you need motivation to move and music can do that.

My Top Three Get Moving Music this Week
  • Bullet Proof by La Roux – Danced with my one month old grandbaby to this
  • Tammy Tama by James Asher – Danced to get ready for my writing
  • I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas – Danced with my 2 ½ year old granddaughter

didn't add any new ways of moving this week did you?

Now it is your turn. What is your earliest dancing memory? What was your favorite Get Moving music that you listened to this past week? How did you move to it? Were you cleaning house, writing, dancing, or bebopping at work? Did you allow the music to uplift you and move more this past week? How do you feel after moving your body more through dance? Did you Dance?

  2. No blog post on this today; Mondays are my "read other people's pages and comment days". But there was dancing. There was a lot of running up and down the stairs because I somehow kept forgetting something that was on the other floor. There was a very silly "I'll only be a minute" song that my 5 year son and I danced to in the kitchen while we were waiting for the tea water to heat up. There was this song: http://www.dailymotion.com/video/xk74em_a-ha-driftwood-teabreak-mix_music and http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GzUv4hg-qgE and this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YNPqE49HNXU

I actually don't usually have videos on for any of this, but I figured I would find you some links if you wanted to hear the songs.

    Blessed Be, Morgan.

  4. This post made me smile. My eariest memories of dancing are dancing with my mom while we (she) cleaned up. My favorite song a that age (about 4) was called Rubberband Man.

I also have fond memories of standing on my dad's feet between him and my mom while they slow danced. :-)

    1. My two favorite records my mom played were Harry Belafonte and Free to be You and Me. Loved dancing to them.

I am glad you have such fond memories of dancing with your parents. :D

Thanks for stopping by and I will see you tomorrow night at #commenthour!

      Blessings,
      Morgan
